The upper leg, also called thigh bone, consists of a bone (femur) surrounded by muscles, nerves, blood vessels, lymph vessels, tissue and the skin. The bone is the strength and largest bone of the human body. Most injuries that occur to the thigh are; a fracture of the bone or an injury to the thigh muscles.
The upper leg, also called the femur, is attached to two joints. For example, the upper part of the femur is connected to the hip, the hip joint. The lower part of the femur is connected to the lower leg, the knee joint. Thigh pain can occur after a fall or after a lot of repeated (incorrect) movement.
The head of the femur falls into the socket of the hip. The thigh has a lot of freedom of movement thanks to the ball joint. The upper leg can be moved in many directions including rotation. This, however, does not apply to the knee either. The knee has a hinge effect. The knee can bend, stretch, make a small sideways movement (varus / valgus) and rotate a little bit.
The femur has many different muscles that can adopt all kinds of different movement components. During exercise it is possible that an injury occurs in the muscles after a fall or incorrect movements. For example, the muscles around the thigh can become irritated or ruptured. The joints can also be affected, then look at knee brace or hip injury.
Many different complaints can arise. For example, an injury can occur suddenly or acutely when, for example, a muscle tear occurs. This is done from the quadriceps or hamstring muscles.
To see what is bothering you and what symptoms occur with your complaints, you can look at the following injuries:
The hamstring is located at the back of the thigh. It is a total of three muscles that allow you to swing your leg back and bend the knee. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that the muscles get injured. When there is a lot of tension and strength on the muscle, it can happen that the muscle tears or stretches. When the muscle tears, there will be a strong pain at the back of the lower leg .

The Quadriceps are the muscles located at the front of the thigh. The name secretly reveals it, but the quadriceps consist of four muscles. The muscles allow you to move your legs forward and stretch the knee. In an explosive and powerful movement it can happen that the quadriceps tear or stretch. There is a strong pain in the thigh.
