History Ottobock

Ottobock was founded in Germany in 1919 by Otto Bock, a prosthetic maker. In the years after the First World War, orthoses and prostheses were in great demand. His vision and entrepreneurship enabled him to be the first in the world to produce these products in series and to build them in a modular way. By producing and delivering these individual components to fellow prosthetic makers, they were also able to build the prostheses faster than the traditional methods. In this way, the war victims could be quickly provided with resources. Today, Ottobock is located in more than 46 locations worldwide and active in over 100 countries.

Ottobock continues to innovate for people with disabilities. In addition, Ottobock has its own foundation that supports natural disasters and also supports development projects and Ottobock sponsors large projects such as sports events. It is not without reason that Ottobock has been an official Partner of the Paralympic Movement for decades.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Finally, Ottobock considers Corporate Social Responsibility of paramount importance. Sustainable business, with an eye for people, the environment and safety, ensuring fair products and the employment of local employees. Knowledge transfer and large-scale education is also a priority, as witnessed by the worldwide Ottobock Academy and the Ottobock Science center in Berlin, which is freely accessible to everyone.
