Below is a humanoid, a doll where you can indicate exactly where you are experiencing pain. Move the mouse over the humanoid and click where you experience complaints or pain. You will be referred from here to the possible injuries or conditions for which more information can be found. General information about the cause, symptoms and treatment method is provided for each injury and condition.

What is an injury?

In our body there are muscles, tendons, haircuts, ligaments, etc. When talking about an injury or a complaint, this is because the body has been damaged and hurts.

An injury is often a form of physical injury that is characterized by damage / and or irritation of the tissue. In many cases, the body is able to repair an injury. However, the question is where the injury comes from? If you know where the injury comes from, you can work on a solution.

The entire human body is covered. From the head to the toes. Or do you still suffer from the shoulder? Read a short description of the possible conditions below.

Injury to the lower body?

Calf

Are you experiencing complaints in the calf? It happens that we are busy or walking and that there is a pain in the lower leg. The pain can feel annoying or sometimes severe. Is it possible that you are hindered in daily activities or during sports? The pain can be caused by a lash or a stretched calf muscle.

  • Stretched calf muscle , when the calf muscle is stretched, the muscle is stretched to such an extent that it is just torn. This can happen with a strong or unexpected movement during, for example, sports. If there is so much force on the muscle during movement, it is also possible that there is a muscle tear, this is also known as a lash.
  • Whiplash , a whiplash is no different than a muscle tear in the calf. Many people are affected by a lash every year. In many cases a whiplash occurs during exercise, often during pushing off. The tension is so high that the muscle tears.

Achilles heel

The calf pain can also lead to Achilles tendon pain. The Achilles tendon is the most powerful and largest tendon in our body. An injury to the Achilles tendon can arise in different ways, either acute or chronic.

  • Tendinopathy of the Achilles tendon , literally translated, a tendinopathy is an inflammation. In this case, inflammation of the Achilles tendon. The quality of the tendon has deteriorated, often due to a lot of repetitive movement that has caused the tendon to inflame slightly.
  • Shortening, with a shortening of the Achilles tendon, the Achilles tendon is shorter than usual. Often this arises in growth. The tendon grows less quickly than the rest of the body.
  • Torn Achilles tendon, often develops after a powerful push off during exercise. The tendon tears and the calf feels very painful.

Foot

Unfortunately, an injury can also occur in the foot. One of the most famous injuries to the foot is the heel spur and the drop foot . Every day there are many people who walk with a heel spur. However, this can only make the complaints worse over time. Especially a lot of trouble with the foot when getting out of bed in the morning? It is important to tackle the heel spur complaints as soon as possible! This can be done using a night splint .

People also sometimes suffer from a drop foot. With a drop foot you have trouble keeping the foot up. This hinders the gait pattern. Normal walking can be hindered by this.

Thigh

The thigh may also be affected. Often through a muscle tear or muscle strain. This can happen during exercise or during an unexpected movement. In the upper leg you have muscles on both the front and the back. This makes it possible to swing the leg backwards (hamstrings) or swing it forward (quadriceps).

Only

As soon as you get out of your bed until you go back to bed in the evening, the ankle joint is actually stressed throughout the day. Many different forces arise. Sometimes the forces can become just too great. The ankle can then break . The surrounding muscles can also exert considerable forces. Just think about running. During running, the muscles around the ankle are maximally tensioned. If the forces become too great, the muscles can stretch or tear. This is then called a torn or torn ankle ligament . You use the ankle for all possible movements. After recovery of the ankle ligaments, the joint may still feel unstable . Firmness using a brace around the ankle can provide a good solution for this.

An injury to the ankle can also creep in slowly. Consider the problems below.

  • Osteoarthritis does not just happen. Osteoarthritis is in most cases caused by trauma from the past. Consider, for example, a hard landing during sports where the foot has to take the force and fall. A small change in position can cause more peak load to be generated on the cartilage. As a result, osteoarthritis can slowly creep in over time. Can you also feel a slight tingling in the foot? Then take a look at tarsal tunnel syndrome.
  • Tarsal tunnel syndrome, can feel annoying. In a tarsal tunnel syndrome, the foot feels like a slight tingling. A slight tingling in the foot can be caused by a nerve constriction. The foot can also feel limp and dull. Don't wait too long with a tarsal tunnel syndrome! Have the foot inspected by an expert at all times.

Knee

The knee, like the ankle, is a joint that is widely used every day. There are therefore many different ways in which a knee can become injured or feel painful. If the knee is overloaded this can lead to, for example, a jumper knee or a runner knee .

  • Jumper knee , a jumper knee differs from a runner knee because the pain takes place with names on the front, just below the kneecap. In most cases it is the patellar tendon that is overloaded. Overloading is caused by a much repeated movement.
  • Runners knee , is very similar to a twins knee, but is in a completely different location. With a runner knee, someone will point to the outside of the thigh where the person is experiencing pain and pain. Often during long walks in the mountains or while running a marathon, a runner's knee often occurs. There are several reasons why a runner's knee can be caused.

In addition to these injuries, patella complaints can also be considered. A patella is the Latin name for a kneecap. The kneecap can sometimes feel painful.

  • Femoral patella, complaints can be serious and painful. In patellafemoral complaints, it is the kneecap, which is normally neatly located in a trench, not neatly located in the trench. As a result, the kneecap does not move neatly and can cause pain and irritation.
  • The kneecap can also become completely dislocated, patellar luxation. The patella is then located on the outside or inside of the knee. This is very serious and requires surgery in some cases. Fortunately, this is rare. In most cases, a patellar luxation occurs through a collision, for example during a fall or during sports.
  • Meniscus , the meniscus has both a damping and a proprioceptive function, it sends information to the brain about the position of the leg. In some individuals, the meniscus is "worn" or affected during exercise. It feels as if the knee can no longer move nicely or that something is limiting the knee movement.
  • Anterior cruciate ligament, the anterior cruciate ligament is an important band within the knee. The front cruciate ligament keeps the knee stable. If the anterior cruciate ligament ruptures, often after knee extension. Then it is important to stabilize the knee with, for example, a knee brace

Lies

You may suffer from the groin. This can have several causes. The main reason is that the organs are blocked by muscles and tissue. As health decreases or there is a congenital defect, cracks can develop in the abdominal wall or in the groin. The abdominal wall may have gone bad as health declines or it may have an innate cause. When cracks occur in the wall, it is referred to as a hernia (in the groin) or an abdominal wall fracture (in the abdomen).

Injury to the upper body?

Back

The back is a large body part and the complaints or pain can take place on different levels. In some cases, it is possible that people cannot specifically indicate 1 place where the complaints are located. It is then referred to as non -specific back problems. The complaints may even be located in the thighs, but where the complaints specifically come from is not always known. Hence good research needs to be done.

  • Channel stenosis , as we age, spinal cord narrowing may occur. There are many nerves in the spinal cord, as the narrowing gets bigger it can happen that the nerves get pinched. This can cause pain and irritation.
  • Hernia, lower back pain? Pain in the leg or sometimes the lower leg? Then it may be that it is due to a hernia. The disc, which is incorporated in our spine, becomes less elastic and firm. These can cause pain stimuli over time.

Shoulder

Like the knee, the shoulder is a commonly used joint. The shoulder is used for almost every movement. When walking alone, it is the arm that moves back and forth. However, an injury to the shoulder can also occur. For example, during sports, but also just while sitting in front of the computer, a shoulder complaint may arise. While sitting and applying a lot of repetitive movement, you may get a bursitis , frozen shoulder or shoulder impingement , for example.

  • Shoulder dislocated , the shoulder joint is located between the upper arm and the shoulder blade and the clavicle. These are put together with a cup and a bowl. However, it is possible that the head will dislocate. It is then referred to as a dislocated shoulder. This happens in many cases after an accident.
  • Shoulder instability , often after the shoulder has dislocated, the shoulder is unstable. The chance that it will happen a second time is much more likely. The surrounding haircut has been damaged after which the muscles around the ligament will have to be trained.

Elbow

The elbow joint is the joint that allows you to bend and stretch the arm. After long repetitive movements, it is possible that pain is generated in the muscles. Two known elbow complaints are the tennis elbow and a golfer's elbow . These two complaints are caused by an overload of the muscles. The size difference between the injuries is that the outside of the elbow hurts with a tennis elbow and the inside hurts with a golfer's elbow .

Wrist

The wrist is the joint located between the forearm and the hand. There can be multiple causes for a particular condition. It could be that you have a personal accident during sports or just during a Sunday walk. The person tries to receive with the arms forward, so that you receive yourself with the wrists. There is a chance that a wrist is sprained or broken .

  • Osteoarthritis wrist, Osteoarthritis often occurs in people older than 45 years. Do you suffer from a stiff, swollen and painful wrist? It may be that there has been a change in the joint. It is referred to as osteoarthritis.
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome, do you experience tingling or loss of strength in the hand? It is possible that a condition occurs in the wrist. Often it is the nerve that gets pinched. The complaints can manifest themselves during the day, but also, for example, only at night.
  • Rheumatism, rheumatism is a very common condition. It is a collective name for more than 100 different chronic conditions. Rheumatism is an autoimmune disease, in an autoimmune disease it is the antibodies that start to defend against the good cells of the body. This often results in a numb, painful, swollen, and warm wrist.
  • RSI, we almost all recognize it, long days behind the computer, making many of the same repetitive movements at work or not enough variety at work. This creates a so-called mouse arm in the wrist
  • TFCC injury, is it painful to strike a powerful punch ? Heavy straining movements are painful. For more information, see the TFCC injury.
  • Quervain's disease is an injury to the thumb. Is moving the thumb painful? Then you may have made a lot of repetitive motion during the thumb. This can irritate the thumb. Look at our range of wrist braces. In addition to Quervain's disease, there are also several thumb injuries

Thumb injuries

A thumb injury can develop acutely or chronically. In an acute pain complaint, a crash may be considered. Or with a lot of repeated movement or old age, there are sometimes ailments on the thumb.

  • Skiduim , every year winter sports is a top 1 destination holiday! Many can be found on skis. However, it can sometimes go wrong. As soon as you stick with the thumb behind the stick, the thumb joint may move out. This can result in a ski thumb. However, it can also arise after an unfortunate fall during, for example, hockey, volleyball or another sport.
  • Osteoarthritis, as well as other joints, the word "osteoarthritis" is more common. Osteoarthritis is a change that has occurred within the human body. In this case, the thumb. Often the thumb is swollen and feels painful and stiff.

Hand

When is the hand not being used? The hand is used for every movement, whether it is on the computer or to make a nice sandwich. Hence it can be very annoying if the hand is limited. In some cases we can provide you with advice and assistance with any injuries or conditions listed below.

  • Dupuytren's contracture is very recognizable on the finger. The finger is curved inwards and can be stretched with great effort. It is the growth of connective tissue in the palm of the hand that causes the finger to become crooked.
  • Rheumatism, morning stiffness in your hand? Or suffer from a sensitive hand? You may be suffering from rheumatism. Rheumatism is an autoimmune disease. The body reacts against the good cells of the body.

For the various conditions mentioned above, additional information can be found on the site with causes, symptoms and possible solutions. In some cases, advising and consulting an expert applies, such as consulting the doctor or physical therapist. It is also possible to look at the solutions that ProBrace offers using the possible braces and bandages.
